Grazie Stefano!

From Stefano Albertini Mussini

Newyorkers, you have two more chances to see this jewel of a film (next sat and sun) at the Tribeca Film Festival. Written by Erri de Luca, directed by Edoardo Ponti, starring Enrico Lo Verso and Nastassia Kinsky, produced by Paola Porrini Bisson and Silvia Bizio. It’s 26 minutes of sheer poetry of the words and of the images.

It is featured as part of a program of shorts from all over the world. 3 of them are actually also very beautiful. Here’s the program description from the TFF website:
“A young girl battles with body image and enters the world of eating disorders, where worth rises as weight falls, in Likeness. Fifteen-year-old Klara is Eating Lunch with four others at the Eating Disorder Clinic under the supervision of nurses, but they have only thirty minutes to finish their meal. In Wings, Christopher prepares for one of the most important concerts of his career knowing that he cannot make any mistake. On a sweltering hot day, pregnant Maria’s loving-kindness practice is tested by work schedules, mechanical failures and complex human relationships conspiring against a desperately needed cooling dip in The River. The Cup Reader follows a woman renowned for her mystical seeing and matchmaking as she reads the fortunes of clients who must choose between love or marriage. Tonight, Sophie will play the violin in the school concert and wants desperately for her mother to be there to see her shine in Ina Litovski. A vow to climb a summit in the Italian Alps becomes the challenge of a lifetime for a man and a woman recovering from open-heart surgery in The Nightshift Belongs to the Stars. “

The Italian curator Massimiliano Gioni will participate with Daniel Baumann and Ralph Rugoff at  Outsider Art Fair 2013. Founded in 1993, the Outsider Art Fair quickly became a critical and commercial success as well as the leading event in the field of outsider, self-taught, and folk art. The fair was recognized for its nonconformist spirit, and crowds began to flock annually to New York ‘s Puck Building, the event’s location for its first 15 years. This year, under the leadership of Wide Open Arts, a new company formed by art dealer Andrew Edlin, the Outsider Art Fair is moving to Chelsea to the site of the former Dia Art Foundation, where visitors can expect to find prime examples of art by both celebrated and newly discovered artists.
Massimiliano Gioni will curate the 55th International Art Exhibition that  will take place in Venice from June 1st to November 24th 2013, and the title chosen by the curator is: The Encyclopedic Palace. The exhibition will place at its heart “a reflection on the ways in which images have been used to organize knowledge and shape our experience of the world.”

Inspired by what scholar Hans Belting has called “an anthropology of images”, the Biennale Arte 2013 curated by Massimiliano Gioni will attempt “an inquiry in the realms of the imaginary and the functions of imagination. “
