Anoushka Shankar and the power of music

Standard

I’m always happily surprised when I have the opportunity to discover new ways to share and mix different cultures, bringing the best of this world, together.

The daughter of Ravi Shakar and amazing prodigy of the sitar, has always explored the possibilities of the classical sitar within other musical genres and traditions. For her seventh album, Anoushka Shankar sets her sights on the links between Hindu and flamenco music, and  turns to producer Javier Limon, one of the most important key figure in the development of flamenco fusion in the past decade. Although her sitar playing remains the focal point of the album, she is joined by superb musicians and the results are as intriguing as they are beautiful…a great result of the power of music, from India to Spain!
